The recent Language Technology Consultant Training (LTCT) course event took place in Kenya from Apr 4-15, 2016 with ten participants coming from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia. Most participants taking the LTCT training are IT people in their entities who also spend a greater percentage of their time helping language teams and individuals with language software needs as well as training so that these teams and individuals can do their work with minimal difficulty.

So basically the process of language technology involves training Language Technology workers on standard software used for given language development task which involves: linguistics, translation and literacy. Back in their entities, Language Technology workers use this knowledge on a daily basis as they fill in this support role.

During LTCT, we focused on two new applications: Bloom and Scripture App Builder. We also covered other applications such as Paratext, FLEx, WeSay, HearThis, etc. LTCT particpants come prepared to learn and to go out ready to train and help others in their entities.
