Microsoft will stop providing security updates for Windows 7 after 14 January 2020. It has already stopped adding features and fixes several years ago. This gives you 1.5 years to consider your options and do something.

Microsoft says that ~65% of computers using Windows 7 are more than five years old, so one option is to get a new computer with a current version of the operating system on it (be it Windows, macOS or Linux).

Other options are to upgrade to Windows 10 (NOT recommended due to the expense, possible hardware incompatibilities and the short expected life of the existing computer) or to do nothing and keep running the existing computer as is. This also is NOT recommended because of potential security issues.
