Microsoft will stop providing security updates to Windows Vista on 11 April. This marks the official end-of-life for Vista. General updates for Vista ended in April 2012. If you are still using Vista, you need to move to something newer as soon as possible. Since Vista was a resource hog, you may be able to run Windows 10 on it but you will have driver issues since the underlying hardware has changed significantly since Vista was released 10 years ago. Linux is another possibility but it may also have driver issues. Another issue to be aware of is that the computer is most likely 32-bit only. It is probably time to get a new(er) computer.
